Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Battle of the Christians

What an absolute joke! You guys are actually battling about who's more Christian? It's funny how people pull the "I've been saved", "I've found the Lord", "I've been born again" whenever they hit the bottom of their morally depraved lives. Religion is a crutch. God's not going to keep you off the booze, or finish that presentation you've got for work, "or in your case Don keep you from neglecting your children", or "in your case gdkid” keep you from cruising the fruity part of whatever fruity city you live in looking for that next would be "John." You know gdkid you can't help but scratch that itch. Speaking of Christianity, you know how many thousands of people have been killed in the name of Christianity? It's a racket. Religions were created to explain what people didn't understand, and weren't capable of explaining based on what was known at the time. Christianity was based on conquering and acquiring wealth, and forcing people to believe their doctrine, blindly. And by the way, how can millions of Muslims be wrong to believe Allah the one true Path? It's like a 12-step programs. Personally, I think it's for the week of heart, and mind but if it gets you through the day, and keeps you from beating your kids, and in your case“gdkid” fondling the kids... awesome, but it's a crutch. How about a little discipline, or self-respect and doing your own thinking. Dire Wolf, it sounds like you've got a chance, but "gekid”... you've got your hands full... full of your "life partners" balls that is. For that matter your mouths probably full too. You sir, repulse me!

10 Bonus Points for your reply to the individual who began this thread. Spite and Bile can only be amplified when met with the same. I, for one, applaud your "growth". I, for one, am more of an agnostic, believing in a nameless higher power, but I truly respect anyone with any kind of a heartfelt belief in such a power, be it the form taken in the Bible, the Koran, the Torah, or whatever source that you feel speaks to you. Keep on Truckin' and keep on Healing.

I think putting right what once went wrong in this place would be a hard task even for the good Dr Beckett.

I loved that show - I just have to hear the theme tune and my heart soars. I can still recite that opening spiel... "Theorising that one could time travel within his own lifetime..."

I still have memories of being scared stiff by William Hartnell, the original Doctor Who, back in 1963 when it first aired here. Have you been watching any of the revamped shows with Christopher Eccleston and now David Tennant? I think they've really managed to keep the spirit of the old Who alive but at the same time put a fresh modern spin on it.

Anyway, it's been a pleasure and a privilege talking with you as always, Patrick, but I have to go and prepare our evening meal now. I hope your day continues well.

I may leap back later. Who knows!

Yes, good call on Dr Who, the black and white ones are intolerable and the new one is well, the shining example of british boring. As for James Bond incarnations, even though Sean Connery's character on SNL's version of Jeapordy is most excellenct, Roger Moore's facial quirks put him in number one 007 slot.

Oh and Tito is God so you all lose that one...

How about Vanilla Fudge?
In a 6 degrees of separation to Kevin Bacon kind of way Carmine Appice is the drummer for Vanilla Fudge. His brother is Vinny Appice, drummer for Black Sabbath when Dio is in the band. All roads lead to Black Sabbath.

Preachin' to the choir (figure that kept this from being a real hijacking) about the Jai Alai 74 shows. Glad they are making your day a little better. Keep smilin' and keep yourself above the fray that we've created here. Don't think I haven't noticed that you are one of the smarter folks who don't get involved with the childish antics around here. Wish I could say the same about myself.
Hope your day is shaping up to be a fine one.

Hey Blue Devil; remember those fundies who used to picket in the parking lots at the Oakland Coliseum and Shoreline Ampitheatre? They were still bugging us; when Bob Dylan played with Phil & Friends several years later. Those are the times to flip off a bunch of damned Holy Rollers...
